STEPS and the Downtown New West BIA are thrilled to announce this opportunity for emerging artists in New Westminster, British Columbia. The selected artists will work with STEPS and Downtown New West BIA to create designs that they will paint on the windows of the Purpose School. This initiative will help beautify the main streets and further build a sense of community.

About the Project
This project is part of I HeART Main Street winter round of public art projects with Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and Canadian artists as part of main street recovery. Through pro-bono creative placemaking support and paid opportunities for local artists, STEPS continues to support BIAs in bringing more public art and community engagements to strengthen business-community relationships and foster vibrant public spaces.

Originally formed in 1989, the Downtown New West BIA provides many benefits for its members, enabling more than 650 property owners and businesses to work together on an ongoing basis to assist in the revitalization and promotion of Downtown New West.
With lots of new and exciting additions all the time, Downtown New West is now a vibrant and trendy area with some of the hottest and most unique shops and restaurants calling our streets home.
