Yue Moon Nominated for Heritage Toronto Public History Award

Congratulations to the team behind Yue Moon for being recognized at this year’s 46th Heritage Toronto Awards for Public History and People’s Choice Award!

Thanks to Heritage Toronto for nominating Yue Moon under the Public History Award category. This award recognizes multimedia and collaborative projects specifically designed to engage, challenge and educate the public. Join us at the virtual ceremony hosted by Ismaila Alfa of CBC Metro Morning happening on October 18, 2021 at 6 PM ET where attendees can also vote for the People’s Choice Award during the live event.

Yue Moon / 圓滿 is a community-based, multimedia public art program by STEPS. Through a series of art-making workshops and storytelling with community members, this program culminated in two public art installations as part of the 2021 Lunar New Year Celebrations in Toronto’s Chinatown, including Yue Moon: Animated Light / 圓滿:舞動, a large-scale digital projection exhibit, and Yue Moon ll / 圓滿:貳, a public art installation, where original artworks from community participants were featured in a series of lanterns hung throughout the Chinatown community.
