ARTIST INFORMATION

Al Runt, is a Toronto street artist who is renowned for having painted Lee’s Palace on Bloor West on 3 different occasions, from 1986 to 2010. This city is the perfect canvas for Runt’s signature style and most Torontonians recognize this mural, as well as others ranging from various locations along Queen West to Kensington Market and Little India. Using surrealistic and colourful creatures inspired by Dr. Seuss's children’s books, Runt introduced a new aesthetic to downtown communities. At 24 years old, Runt originally had his eyes set on filmmaking, but transferred his artistic skills to a variety of media, ranging from canvases to building walls. With his unique style of fanciful creatures and visual stories, he transformed his vision into a long and storied career.
