Amanda Arcuri is an award-winning photographer based in Toronto, Ontario. Arcuri completed her BFA at Ryerson University in Photography, and she received her MFA in 2015 from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited at various galleries in Toronto and Vancouver, including The Audain Gallery, The Gladstone Hotel, Elaine Fleck Gallery and On the Slate at Vaughan City Hall. She has been commissioned by the City of Vancouver, the City of Richmond, and the City of Vaughan for public art projects. She has also enjoyed teaching opportunities through Emily Carr University of Art and Design and the Vancouver Art Gallery. She currently teaches children and youth art classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario where she encourages creative exploration and play.
Arcuri is interested in human connection with the natural world. Arcuri is typically drawn to the seemingly mundane or overlooked subjects in nature.. She then plays with these spaces and scenes in unexpected ways, asking the viewer to re-examine their relationship with the everyday environment. Arcuri often shoots with large format cameras, a nod to the history of the medium.
