Beth

Beth James is an emerging artist living and working in Newtonville, Ontario. She holds a graduate certificate from the Haliburton School of Art and Design and a BA in visual arts from York University. She is fascinated by the artistic process, always pushing her materials and ideas in order to grow creatively and to generate new ideas.

Beth loves to investigate the properties of her materials. Paint and colour become a way to tell abstracted stories that connect to nostalgia, memory and past experience. Often unusual and unexpected colour combinations emerge to tell a new and contemporary story. Lines often are featured in her work as a vehicle for telling dynamic colour stories and creating rhythm in her pieces.
