Rachel

Rachel Wilmshurst is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist who holds an honours Bachelor of Design from Ryerson University and has gained a wide variety of professional experience in several art- and design-based roles over the past decade. Skilled in fine art technique as well as digital processes, Rachel’s projects have included mural painting, public art installation and gallery exhibitions, as well as illustration and graphic design for a growing list of local and international clients.

Rachel makes a conscious effort to hold on to the pieces of her compelling days. It could be a colour palette, an angle, pattern or integration of shapes that stands out and cuts through the clutter. Her abstract drawings and murals are curated from these bits, and the process encourages her to pay closer attention to her environment and continually seek beauty in everyday contexts.

Graphic design and fine art have collectively informed Rachel’s style. Her work is geometrically organic, and she uses a combination of brushed acrylic, aerosol and paint markers to layer shape and colour, representing pieces of her physical environment and what makes it special.
