ARTIST INFORMATION
Vesna Asanovic is a Toronto-based illustrator, born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She studied illustration at OCAD University and completed her thesis in 2012. Vesna's illustrations have been featured in editorial publications such as NYLON magazine, Lenny Letter, Broken Pencil and the Walrus.
The root of her process starts with her sketchbook. She will typically start a project by seeking inspiration from past sketchbook entries. If the project is commissioned work, she sketches out multiple drawings until she has a semi-draft rough that is well-suited for the project. She then scans the drawing and uses Adobe programs to work on it further.
Vesna enjoys building landscapes with a focus of people or person. She is interested in how the viewer reads shapes and lines and wants the viewer’s eye to delightfully move around the artwork and engage in the narrative on a personal and emotional level.
