ARTIST INFORMATION
Yen Linh Thai is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator and muralist based in Mississauga, graduating from the University of Guelph in 2016. Her work explores the whimsical and is largely inspired by stories and storytelling. Although drawing-based, Linh's experimental practice includes papercut, projection, and animation. She strives to make art that exists between two and three dimensions.
In recent years, her practice has expanded to public art, creating artworks inspired by the communities they live in. Linh aims to include diverse representation of the neighbourhoods’ residents, as well as the local animal and plant life. Her murals are illustrative, colourful and playful. She tries to create artwork that is rooted in lived experiences –personal or learned– and add a sprinkle of the extraordinary into it. Linh has created artwork for Peel Children's Aid Foundation, High Park Zoo, Celebration Square, and the Roncesvalles Guardian Pharmacy. She is the recipient of the 2021 Emerging Visual Arts MARTY Award.
