Are you an artist located in Brampton, Ontario, or with a strong connection to the city, who is interested in gaining public art experience and building your art practice? The City of Brampton is seeking emerging artists to participate in a public art activation animating traffic control boxes!

City of Brampton, Cultural Services, and STEPS Public Art are seeking to engage ten (10) Brampton artists to create digital artwork which will be displayed on traffic control boxes at street corners throughout the city.

This project will center Brampton voices while representing the city’s diverse population, exploring artists’ connections to the city and capturing the spirit and stories of Brampton.

This opportunity is focused on helping emerging artists build their portfolio practices.

Production Timeline: Production will take place between August 15th, 2023 – September 31st, 2023
Number of Artists Selected: Ten (10)
Artist Qualifications: Connected to the local Brampton community (this includes current and former residents, and artists with a strong connection to the local community)
Artist Fee: $1,600 per selected artist

Deadline to Apply: Friday, August 4th at 11:59 PM EST

Timeline:

• August 4th, 2023: Application Due
• August 4th – August 15th: Artist Selection
• August 15th – September 15th: Artwork Creation
• September 15th – October 15th: Print and Installation
• October 15th – October 31st: Project Documentation
