What is Happening?
The City of Brampton is seeking to commission a public artwork from a professional, Ontario-based, Canadian Indigenous artist or artist team to be placed within Brampton’s forthcoming Century Gardens Youth Hub. Community engagement involving local youth has been a requirement for the selected artist/artist team.
Three (3) artists or artist teams have been shortlisted and have created detailed proposals. Now is your chance to let us know which one resonates most with you, and why! Fill out the short forms below for each artist and let us know!
How To Get Involved
Below you will find three (3) Google Forms, one for each artist, showcasing their proposed artwork, along with a detailed description. Have a look through each form and let us know what resonates most with you!
How We Will Use Your Input
Your feedback will be shared with The City of Brampton staff and the Selection Panel, which will be composed of City officials, Indigenous community members and practicing Indigenous arts professionals, and will be considered during the Panel’s deliberations.
What We Are Looking to Learn
We want to learn which artwork resonates most with you, and why!
- Would you be excited to see this artwork?
- Do you think the artwork aligns with the programming to create community, a place to gather, to connect and provide exposure to knowledge and creativity?
- How does the proposed artwork make you feel?
About The Project
The artwork will be located in the Outdoor Seating Garden of the forthcoming Century Gardens Youth Hub, enhancing the space as a welcoming area for gathering, connection, teachings, and community programming. Opening in 2026, the 12,500-square-foot Youth Hub will serve as a one-stop, youth-centered space offering programs and services that foster personal growth, creativity, and inclusion. Designed through an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens, the Hub will include areas for games, e-sports, creative activities, meetings, and service delivery. Outdoor features will include an amphitheatre, community gardens, a basketball court, and the Atiba Hutchinson soccer court. The facility will meet LEED GOLD and NetZero standards, continuing the City of Brampton’s commitment to sustainable, youth-driven spaces.
