About La vie du Plateau

In La vie du Plateau, Whatisadam wanted visitors to the Parc & Laurier Branch to feel immersed in an apartment in the Plateau neighbourhood of Montreal. Looking out onto Mont Royal, the artwork is filled with colour, inspirational quotes and excitement. Influenced by pop art and vintage comics, Whatisadam’s artwork has fun details that are full of meaning related to BMO and the surrounding area.

Lead Artist

Infused with Canadian imagery, Whatisadam’s style is reminiscent of vintage comics and pop art. Depictions of North American wildlife and landscapes are common themes within his work, but are always reimagined to feature elements of urban culture, as seen in his maple ‘sizzurp’ cans, tattooed ducks and hockey hoodlums. Whatisadam has collaborated with many organizations such as Osheaga, Sprite, Hennessy, Roots Canada and many more.

These works of art were made possible by BMO in collaboration with STEPS Public Art. BMO’s National Mural Series was designed to create opportunities to celebrate local communities and the people who live and visit them. By working with hyper local artists to design murals with meaning and impact specific to each location, BMO hopes to bring art to locations where artists and community members might not otherwise have an opportunity.

At BMO, we are proud to be partners in these communities, celebrate our customers, and support local artists. These beautiful pieces of art not only express BMO’s values and celebrate diversity they also provide opportunities to surprise and delight those visiting our branches. We look forward to expanding this program and curating many more murals in branches across Canada.
