BMO National Mural Series

The BMO National Mural Series is a program launched by BMO in partnership with STEPS, connecting local artists to BMO branches across Canada to beautify spaces and foster strong community relationships through the power of public art.

In 2021, BMO collaborated with STEPS and artist Gosia Komorski in creating a mural at the BMO Yonge and Roselawn branch in Toronto’s bustling Midtown neighbourhood. This marked the start of the BMO National Mural Series, a program that brings together local artists and BMO branches across what is currently Canada to create unique works of art. The aim is to beautify and activate spaces through the power of public art following BMO’s Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in Business and in Life, and is dedicated to the building, investing and supporting of the communities they are a part of.

This initiative includes:

  • 60+ one-of-a-kind activations at BMO branches across Canada (and growing!)
  • Paid opportunities for local artists and designers across Canada
  • Fostering positive recognition and community engagement through public art

Through STEPS’ expertise in public art management and customized approach in one-of-a-kind installations to foster inclusive communities, these activations are tied together by themes of community, family and diversity.

Follow us @STEPSPublicArt and #BMONationalMuralSeries for the latest mural reveals and to meet the talented artists involved!

These works of art were made possible by BMO in collaboration with STEPS Public Art. BMO’s National Mural Series was designed to create opportunities to celebrate local communities and the people who live and visit them. By working with hyper-local artists to design murals with meaning and impact specific to each location, BMO hopes to bring art to areas where artists and community members might not otherwise have an opportunity.

At BMO, we are proud to be partners in these communities, celebrate our customers, and support local artists. These beautiful pieces of art not only express BMO’s Purpose, which is to Boldly Grow the Good in Business and Life and dedication towards building, investing and supporting communities; they also provide opportunities to surprise and delight those visiting our branches. We look forward to expanding this program and curating many more murals in branches across Canada.
