Who Are You?

  • Do you excel in organizing and executing complex tasks?
  • Is working independently or as part of a team second nature to you?
  • Do you have a passion for public art and engaging with diverse communities?
  • Is your expertise in technical production or community engagement your superpower?

Elevate your public art career and gain experience! Join our growing National Public Art Affiliates Network.

As a Project Coordinator or Production Staff, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to inspiring public art projects across Canada by supporting the delivery of our programs and services on an as-needed basis. While project availability may vary and is not guaranteed, network members enjoy priority consideration for exciting new projects and roles across Canada.

Expand your professional network, gain valuable experience, and collaborate with a dynamic organization dedicated to enriching communities through art.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage public art projects from inception to completion
  • Provide production support for large cultural events and public art installations
  • Engage with diverse communities to ensure inclusive project execution
  • Collaborate with artists, stakeholders, and community members
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in project coordination and production support, preferably in the public art or cultural sector on an as-needed basis
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Specialized skills or expertise in areas, such as Indigenous engagement, working with the disability community, bilingualism and technical production (e.g. new media projects, large cultural events) are considered assets

Compensation

Most opportunities within the STEPS Public Art Affiliates Network will be offered as casual, fixed-term employment contracts. This framework provides additional capacity to supplement our permanent team, allowing us to meet project-specific needs or respond to higher demand for services across Canada, as well as extend access to select organizational resources and protections to Affiliates that a contractor relationship does not provide.

Below are the anticipated hourly wage ranges for the types of roles across the country:

  • Developing/Managing Public Art Projects and Cultural Plans: $25 to $35 per hour
  • Community Engagement and Research: $20 to $27 per hour
  • Communications and Marketing: $20 to $32 per hour
  • Program and Event Support: $17 to $25 per hour

Please note: Compensation for project-based work is aligned with the pay ranges of our core staff performing similar responsibilities, ensuring fair and consistent practices. However, rates and other terms may vary based on the project’s needs, budget, funder requirements, the Affiliate’s level of experience, and livable wage rates in their Canadian region.

Compensation terms will be finalized at the time of project confirmation. For roles that require specialized or technical skills outside our core team’s expertise (e.g. photo/video documentation, accessibility services) or engagements for a limited number of hours, higher rates may apply. In such cases, affiliates may be hired as consultants to reflect the unique nature and expertise required for the work.

Affiliates will also receive compensation for orientation, as well as invitations to participate in development and networking events.
