Register Today: Beyond the Plate Walking Tour with Artist Meegan Lim

Rescheduled Walking Tour Registration Now Re-opened! 

Calling all foodies and art lovers to join artist Meegan Lim for a guided tour of her exhibit along Downtown Brampton Storefronts to celebrate the launch of Brampton’s Food Guide.

 

Join us on a journey through the world’s cuisines! Artist Meegan Lim will present “Beyond the Plate”, six vibrant artworks celebrating Brampton residents’ favourite dishes, exhibited in storefront windows along Main Street North. Discover Brampton’s delicious foods from around the world and dive into the histories and traditions tied to each cuisine. Plus, watch the images come to life through immersive animations by artist Jenn Liv.
The “Beyond the Plate” walking tour will take place from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2023. This is the last guided tour before the artwork retires in April.
This event is for all ages and families are welcome!
Make sure you register to reserve a gift bag from the City of Brampton’s tourism office.

STEPS and Meegan will be guiding you through six different artworks that share stories of Brampton’s prominent cuisines. You will have a chance to learn about Meegan’s art practice and experiences as a Brampton-based artist.

For the tour, we will meet in front of Segovia Coffee Shop in Garden Square (8 Queen St E, Brampton, Ontario, L6V 1A2).

Meegan Lim

Lead Artist

Meegan Lim is an illustrator and emerging arts facilitator based in Brampton and Toronto, Ontario. She is known for her detailed illustrations focusing on food and cultural identity, and the vast stories that exist within those intersections. Her mission is to create art that is inviting in its aesthetic, thoughtful in its research, and illuminating with its subject matter. Whether it is through her illustration or community engagement efforts, she strives to nurture community growth and healing through visual arts.

Jenn Liv

AR Animation Artist

Jenn Liv (Jennifer Liu, She/They) is an award-winning Chinese Canadian-American illustrator based in Ontario. Since 2015, she has worked with a wide variety of notable clients including Google, All Nippon Airways, The New York Times, and many more. As an educator, she has taught 4th-year Illustration at Sheridan College as a sessional lecturer and at OCAD University as a teaching assistant for 3rd-year Professional Practice. Her work has been recognized by both Society of Illustrators and American Illustration. Her personal research interests focus on investigating the intersections between gender studies, feminism, decolonization, and Asian diasporic identity. Jenn also has a keen interest in emerging technology, particularly in mixed reality, searching for new and innovative ways to expand upon her artistic practice through interdisciplinary methodologies. Outside of work, Jenn is fond of J-RPGs, Asian hip-hop and pop music, and anything currently trending within the nerd community.
